The Marché International Mouscronnois (MIM) has installed a large-scale photovoltaic infrastructure, making this project one of the largest architectural photovoltaic power plants in Europe. The 4,067 solar panels, spread across the six buildings on the site, cover a total area of 10,500 square metres. They are interconnected by 30 km of cables.
The electricity produced is used directly to power the MIM’s various businesses. The surplus is sent to the “Les Dauphins” Olympic swimming pool via a virtual energy purchase agreement (PPA), enabling optimum use to be made of locally produced renewable energy.
This major project makes a significant contribution to reducing the site’s carbon footprint and brings significant benefits to the municipality of Mouscron, reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy and the energy transition.
